multEE Final Conference – 29th June Vienna

Source: multee.eu

The multEE final conference, on invitation only, will take place on 29 June 2017 in Vienna and bring together representatives working on energy efficiency from across the EU and the Energy Community.

Background

The Clean Energy for All Europeans package demands Member States (and in the future also Energy Community Countries) to step-up efforts to reduce energy consumption and align energy and climate policies in Integrated Energy and Climate Plans. This requires the establishment of a new governance framework, not only between the European Commission and Member States, but also within Member States, entailing horizontally aligned energy and climate policies, as well as effectively linked national, regional, and local governance levels for concerted project planning and implementation.

The outcomes of the multEE project revealed that in the vast majority of EU and Energy Community countries more efforts are needed in setting up effective horizontal and vertical coordination mechanisms involving also non-state actors. While Member States have made some progress in improving data collection and flows by introducing monitoring and verification (M&V) schemes also in this regard challenges remain.

Aims & Topics

The multEE conference will bring together stakeholders from multEE partner countries and beyond to share their experiences and knowledge and shed light on multi-level governance of energy efficiency in Europe. Participants will discuss challenges and possible solutions on horizontal and vertical policy coordination, as well as M&V processes and tools, as experienced by selected Member States and Energy Community Countries.
