Florence Forum calls for adoption of electricity network codes in the Energy Community

Am Hof, Vienna, Austria

Participants of the European Electricity Regulatory Forum, taking place on 17 and 18 May in Florence, discussed electricity market developments in the Energy Community. The Forum welcomed the work of the Energy Community Contracting Parties on adopting and implementing EU electricity network codes and guidelines as coordinated by the Energy Community Secretariat. The Forum called upon the European Commission to facilitate their adoption in the Energy Community as soon as possible.

The Forum also encouraged the Commission and the Secretariat to jointly facilitate the early implementation of market coupling in South East Europe, including Energy Community Contracting Parties and neighbouring EU Member States.

In the context of discussions on day-ahead trading developments, the Secretariat pinpointed to the need of implementing the Regulation on Wholesale Energy Market Integrity and Transparency (REMIT) in the Energy Community to ensure transparency in trading. The Secretariat announced that a stakeholder consultation on REMIT will be launched before Summer 2017.
